Team Building Day 2

Today we did another team building activity with the students. The objective this time was to pass a bucket of tennis balls around the circle using nothing but their feet. The bucket could not be touched with hands and could not touch the ground. They quickly found this was not as easy as it looked.

Dylan and Caleb watch as Mrs. Mason and Mrs. Norman demonstrate how to pass the bucket. Looks easy, right???

Logan passes off to Nicole
Kaylee and Zach have a hard time keeping the bucket off the ground

Devanna and Audreyanna figure out how to make it work

Team Building Day 1

Today we spent some time learning about working as a team. Sometimes we work as individual class teams, and other times we have to work as a 3rd grade team. The objective of the activity was to see which class could successfully move their hula hoop all the way around the circle without letting go of each hand. Mrs. Mason's class took the top prize in today's team building activity!!! Way to go!!!

Rhendi, Naima and Jamieson work quickly to move their hula hoop!

Haley and Selena have worked out a plan to move, move, move!

Hunter and Jacob try to figure out which way works best!

Check us out!!!

Aren't we a great looking bunch of 3rd graders!!!! It's going to be an awesome year!!

Take a Look at 3rd Grade Fun

We have a wonderful time in third grade!!! Check out the photos below for a preview of fun things to come!!

After a trip to the Carson Center to see "Harold and the Purple Crayon", our 3rd grade students enjoyed some fun at Chuck E. Cheese.

Kaylee and Alaya focus on their target.

Leah and Lauren stop to pose for a picture while playing skee-ball.

Reese enjoys some pizza with his mom!

Every fall, Mayfield offers students and citizens tons of fun with its "Amaizing Farms" corn maze. We took our students for a day of fun and exploring.

Caleb, Jordan, Dylan, Bryce, Trinity and Amber are very glad to have found their way out of the corn maize. They had to have some help from Mrs. Green's husband, Mr. Keith.

Who doesn't enjoy a fun hayride??? Ours was filled with all kinds of agriculture facts for the students to learn.

Aubrey takes aim with the corn launcher!!!

For Christmas we wanted to help students understand and experience the joys of giving rather than receiving. Students brought in money that was used to purchase fleece to make blankets for children battling cancer at St. Jude's Children's Hospital in Memphis. One of our 3rd graders lost her sister to a battle with childhood cancer which made this an extra special project for our students.

Maci, Raychel, Madelyn, Luke and Lisandro work hard on their "princess" blanket. They hope some little girl will love her new blanket. We love you Tori!

Bailee, Aubrey, Ty, and Zach work hard on their football blanket. In all students donated 16 blankets to the children of St. Jude's.

Students from grades 3-6 assemble every year to kick off our state testing. This year each grade level had to perform some type of skit, song or activity to help motivate the other students to do well on the test. Mr. Mays, the principal from GCHS, came to our school to do the "Revolution" dance with students. We were rockin!!!

Do you want a revolution? Whoop! Whoop!

At the end of every year, students who have met all their Accelerated Reader goals for the year are treated to an end of the year reward party. This year students went swimming at the local YMCA and then had a picnic lunch at Kess Park.

Meagan and Bailee smile for Mrs. Mason

Isabelle, Makayla, Lauren and Jessie enjoy a day at the pool
